The interview allows me to understand more about the language and learning difficulties that immigrants’ children might face. My interviewee pointed out the necessity of knowing English. After the interview, I learned that struggle in English would lead to struggle in school. Learning a new language is always hard. Knowing no English leads to inability to communicate with teachers and class, causing isolation in class. It also leads to falling behind on lessons, slowing the learning process. I felt the same way because I also experienced similar problems. What my interviewee said reminds me of the articles, “Testing Huntington: Is Hispanic Immigration a Threat to American Identity” and “Learning to Be Illegal: Undocumented Youth and Shifting Legal Contexts in the Transition to Adulthood”.
Hey, this highlights the importance of knowing English for immigrants' children to succeed in school. It also touches upon the challenges they face, such as isolation and falling behind in lessons. The connection between the interviewee's experiences and the articles on immigration and identity adds an insightful perspective to the discussion. Overall, this paragraph provides valuable insights into the difficulties faced by immigrant children in adapting to a new language and cultural environment. Very nice!
