Blog Post Interview with Immigrant

I loved discussing the story of my aunt's immigration. her story has showed me how immigrants persevere and strive to have a great life especially for their children. This project helped me be very thankful for my family overall. I know as an immigrant myself my challenges may not have been as major as my parents, godparents, aunts, uncles, etc. It took me to a place where now I want to ask so much more questions. Thank you for this opportunity professor!

  1. Hey. I agree with your post when it comes to the different challenges that immigrants encounter when moving to new places which are unfamiliar to them. When many immigrants migrate to new places, making a living is always a common concern and it oftentimes connects to their motivation for improving their own lives. Yet not all immigrants are treated the same throughout every country. So, it is good that your aunt managed to deal with different challenges and that she was determined to make a better world for her children to live in. When it comes to appreciating our parents and our families, it can be difficult for some people to do this because they are often more concerned with fitting into their own groups and being accepted by others. In terms of the challenges faced by different generations of immigrants, it is oftentimes the case that immigrants who come from generations after the previous generations tend to face less difficulties because their first generations had to struggle to make it easier for succeeding generations to have improved living conditions. So, you are right when you say how previous generations of your family might have struggled a lot more than more recent generations. When you say how you are motivated to ask more questions, it is good that you intend to know more about your family. It is often useful to ask your family about past stories because they enable you to have an improved understanding of your world. That is why I wish you all the best in your journey and your effort.
